We live in a time when people are more connected than ever and yet more alone than ever.

The U.S. Surgeon General recently declared loneliness a public health crisis, warning that the effects of chronic loneliness are as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Over 60% of young adults report feeling seriously lonely on a regular basis. And this isn’t just outside the Church—it’s inside, too.

A 2022 Barna study found that 1 in 3 practicing Christians say they feel lonely “frequently” or “constantly.”You can have thousands of followers online and still feel unseen. You can sit in a room full of people—even in a church gathering—and still wonder if anyone really knows you. That’s not just a mental health issue—it’s a spiritual one.

We were made for connection because we were created in the image of a relational God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. What if the ache we feel, the hunger for real belonging is actually pointing us back to the heart of God?

This Sunday, we wrap up our message series Sound Doctrine: Defining a Christian in a Noisy World by exploring Jesus’ words in Matthew 28, what we call the Great Commission. and what it means to believe in the Triune God.

Together, we’ll celebrate Trinity Sunday and affirm our shared faith by reciting the Nicene Creed as followers of Jesus have done for nearly 1700 years.
