Refugee: Local Team

Description

REUGEE TEAM DESCRIPTION: This team serves the refugee community in the San Diego area.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

OPTION 1: Serve at Bridge of Hope

Once per month, this team serves at Bridge of Hope in City Heights on a Saturday from 9-11am, among other efforts that pop up throughout the year. Check Flood's calendar (link at bottom of page) for this month's Refugee Team date at Bridge of Hope, or contact the team at the email below! All are welcome to come and serve, regardless of if your schedule allows you to serve other months as well.

At Bridge of Hope, we help serve groceries, host a craft or other fun activity for elementary aged kids so parents can shop at the free clothing store events. This is a great opportunity to serve individually or for groups or families to serve together.

Annually in November and December, another opportunity to serve is through Flood's Giving Tree. Select a tag from the Giving Trees at church which has a "Refugee Team" label to specifically support the families that Bridge of Hope is serving! This is another very tangible way to support our local refugee families.

OPTION 2: San Diego Refugee Tutoring

To get involved with San Diego Refugee Tutoring, attend an upcoming New Tutor Orientation on Oct. 30 or Jan. 7 from 5-7pm. Tutoring involves showing up one time per week (Tues. or Thurs. evenings from 5-6:30pm in City Heights) for a refugee student in need of academic support. No teaching experience required.

If you are interested in volunteering at a special event with your small group (or a small group), you can help at a holiday event on Dec. 10 or 12 from 4-7:30pm.
