Loss is a part of life. We all experience the pain of significant loss—whether it’s the passing of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or even the weight of the world’s suffering. Grief can feel overwhelming, but in the midst of our sorrow, we are not alone. The Bible reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted and offers comfort to those who mourn.
This week, we’ll explore the important topic of sadness, reflecting on Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:1-10. Our focus will be on verse 4: Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Is Jesus really saying, “happy are those who are sad?” How can that be? And why is learning to feel and express sadness such a vital part of both our faith and our lives?
